Slowly the Finn-Ugors assimilated with the Slavs, who came from the South. Nowadays Rostov Velikiy it is a small town (31 thous. inhabitants) with the Kremlin, old buildings and authentic Russian architecture.

Now it is a large industrial city, the biggest along the Golden Ring (608 thous. inhabitants) and very attractive due to its history, architecture and city life.
